Being a EMT and Mom ain’t easy!

I took a 6 month break from blogging to finish out my schooling to be a EMT-basic last year and can say I do not regret it! Which, now I am studying to be a Advanced EMT before moving on to the main goal of Paramedic. Let me tell you, juggling all 4 is not easy! I have a 13 year old son with Down Syndrome who gets my attention in the afternoons after school. Most the time from 8-2 daily, I work with our local rescue squad as a EMT running calls then come home to get the spousal chores completed.

Being a EMT is a rewarding job as long as you can deal with the pressures. I am the most proud of my family because they make so many sacrifices due to my line of work. Leaving in the middle of the night because a stranger needs help, or working long hours and holidays being away from your family and loved ones is not easy. They are my support system after having a bad call or being exhausted after a long shift. You do not know how many times my husband has complained because I had to leave in the middle of the night due to a wreck or house fire.

I chose this career simply because I love helping others. Personally, I have always had a big heart in helping others, whether it be medical, physical, emotional or in any way I can. For me, I specifically took interest in helping them medically. I have always wanted to become a part of something bigger than myself and make a difference, so I feel that this is the right place for me. I specifically chose to help people medically because you could be the difference between them living or dying. It’s a very risky job choice but I feel that it is very humbling and will always be a reminder to always be safe in everything you do and will serve as experience when advising others to play it safe.

Blogging has always been a way for me to express my creative side and work out stress. So if there is anything you want to see me write about, let me know. I always love a challenging topic!

Virgin Mobile is giving back this holiday season

Virgin Mobile is giving back this holiday season, particularly in advance of #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving. Each person who joins the Inner Circle by Virgin Mobile between Black Friday and Cyber Monday will receive a $200 Visa Prepaid Card and Virgin Mobile will donate 200 meals to Feeding America for each one of those new members.

Whether you’re a Virgin Mobile Inner Circle member or not, you can use your phone to help end hunger in America. Just share a photo of your meal on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #DonateMyPlate and Virgin Mobile will donate a meal* to Feeding America® for every picture posted. You may even see your pic in this gallery! Now through Thursday, Nov. 30, if you follow Virgin Mobile on Instagram or Twitter who tag @VirginMobileUSA, you’ll also have a chance to win an iPhone and service if you use #DonateMyPlate on your food pic.

Virgin Mobile has already committed to donating more than 1.6 million meals through 2018 to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. What a better way than this holiday season to add people to your inner circle to receive free money and also help donate food to people in need.
